The PEP process
5 top tips
Manchester Virtual School have put together five 'top tips' for a successful PEP meeting.
1) "Do Not Disturb"
Let your colleagues know you will be unavailable and put a sign on the door so you won't be interrupted. Does the young person feel comfortable in the room?
2) Put the kettle on
Getting everyone a brew may help break the ice and get the introductions started.
3) Get scribling!
Using a pen and paper to record the conversation makes the meeting more personable.
4) Have a strengths based approach
Always begin by asking, "what is working well?" - celebrate the young person's achievements and successes!
5) Next steps!
End the meeting by summarising the actions for all involved and agree on the next PEP meeting date.
