Manchester Day takes place on 27 July

Some road closures will be necessary in Manchester as the city comes together to celebrate this year's Manchester Day (Saturday 27 July).

This year's event Manchester Day: Let the Games Begin! will see a have-a-go sports take-over of the city centre as it is turned into Manchester's biggest-ever playground for one day only.

Inspired by an international summer of sport, a medal-winning programme for the day has been curated by the city council in partnership with outdoor arts specialists Walk the Plank and some of the UK's leading sports bodies.

Under starters' orders from midday, the fun goes on until 6 pm and involves most parts of the city centre.

To help ensure the event goes ahead safely, some temporary road closures are necessary.
