Major resurfacing works are due to take place in Chorlton at the end of July.

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to improving and maintaining the road network, Barlow Moor Road is going to be fully resurfaced over a three-week period.

Starting on Monday, July 29, a section of Barlow Moor Road between Wilbraham Road and High Lane will be closed for one week, with work crews operating between 7am and 5pm on weekdays, and 8am and 5pm on the weekend.

Traffic will be prohibited from travelling along this road entirely over the course of the works - not just during working hours - however, during working hours traffic marshals will be in place to assist continued access for residents as well as deliveries for businesses, and, signposted diversions will be in place.

It is important to note that access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Then from Monday, August 5, Barlow Moor Road will be subject to a closure for two weeks between Maudleth Road West and High Lane. The working hours will be the same as with the previous section, with marshals and diversions in place to assist access for residents and motorists.

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport, said: “For anyone who travels through south Manchester Barlow Moor Road is a key transportation route and, as a result, its maintenance is vitally important.

“While I am sure that residents will enjoy the benefits that this resurfacing work will no doubt bring, it will of course result in some level of disruption for residents, businesses and motorists.

“Sadly this will be unavoidable, but this is why extensive work has taken place to alert people well in advance, as well as the range of measures put in place such as traffic marshals and diversions to try and reduce disruption as much as possible.

"I would like to thank people in advance for their patience during the course of these works.”
