Project timeline
March/April 2021 – Have your say
We asked for your feedback about what makes your area a good or bad place to live, and what improvements you might like to see. This was collected through postal and online surveys.
Spring/Summer 2021 – What you said
All your comments and ideas were summarised and fed back to you via the project website and through online workshops, creating a vision for the active neighbourhood design process
Summer 2021 - Design locally
Using these ideas, online design workshops were held with local people to come up with a design for Safer Streets. This was then made available for you to comment on and shape further.
Summer 2022 - Sharing the draft plan
A mailout was sent to all properties in the project area with the draft design and survey. A drop-in session was hosted to gather your feedback. Following this a feasibility report was produced and the survey results showed that the public was in favour of the proposals.
Winter 2022/Spring 2023 - Trial scheme design
The outline design that was developed with residents will be prepared to be delivered as a trial. In addition to the technical design for the trial works, prior to any trial starting, we will engage with key stakeholders, like the emergency services and local schools.
Summer 2023 – Trial installation and beginning of monitoring
Starting in mid August the scheme will be installed and its impact monitored for a period of at least 6 months. People will be asked for their feedback throughout the trial so that we can work together to make your streets safer.
