Zero carbon and climate change Ward Climate Change Action Plans

Homes and energy efficiency

We have a commitment to reduce our own carbon emissions relating to buildings we own, and to ensure all future building in the city is as close to Zero Carbon as possible. You can find out more about what we are doing at a city-wide level in our Housing strategy.

Alongside this, everyone can do something within their home to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change by reducing energy use, switching to a green energy provider, using less water, or greening their garden. No matter how small, every little helps – and it could save you money too.

Aims:

  • Raise awareness of ways residents can make changes in the home that will reduce their carbon footprint and help adapt to the impacts of climate change
  • Identify and promote any opportunities which might support the community to take action
  • Promote the availability of energy efficiency improvement support schemes
