Lendlease was appointed as Management Contractor for the Our Town Hall Project in early 2019. Like us, they have been committed to ensuring that local suppliers, SME’s and local employees are able to benefit from the opportunities that this project gives.
This project offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play a part in the refurbishment and partial restoration of this iconic building, to safeguard it and preserve its rich heritage for the people of Manchester. Work has included bringing the building up to modern-day standards, improving access, allowing visitors to move around the building more easily, and increasing the visibility of the Town Hall’s many treasures.
The opportunities that the project has created have had - and continue to have - a positive impact on the local community. There have been more than 150 apprenticeships and over 50 new jobs specifically for Manchester residents; all targeted at giving Mancunians the chance to be involved with the Our Town Hall Project.
