Work on junction improvements at Oldham Road

From Monday 13 May, until early Autumn 2024, work will start on improvements to cycleways, pedestrian crossings, carriageways, footpaths, and traffic signals at the junction of Oldham Road with Poland Street and Radium Street, which will include carriageway re-surfacing and painting of new road markings. There will be some disruption to footways, but pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be always maintained.

The work will be managed in five phases:

Phase One (approximately two weeks)

One traffic lane will be closed in both directions on Oldham Road, between Bengal Street and Poland Street

Phase Two (approximately seven weeks)

Cycle lane and one general traffic lane closed outbound on Oldham Road between Radium Street and Poland Street

Phase Three (approximately three weeks)

One inbound lane partially closed on Oldham Road at the Poland Street junction

Phase Four (phase length to be determined)

Radium Street fully closed at the junction with Oldham Road. Bus lane suspended at this point.

A signed diversion will be in place.

Phase Five (phase length to be determined)

Full lane closures in both directions on Oldham Road overnight (on separate dates from each other).

Signed diversions will be in place.
