Notice of election for Blackley and Middleton South

ELECTION OF A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT for the BLACKLEY AND MIDDLETON SOUTH CONSTITUENCY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT:

1. An election is to be held for a Member of Parliament for the Blackley and Middleton South Constituency.

2. Nomination papers are to be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer in Room 5, Customer Service Centre, Town Hall Extension, Mount Street, Manchester M60 2LA – access will be via the, Customer Service Centre, Town Hall Extension, Mount Street, Manchester, between the hours of 10:00 and 16:00 during the period of Tuesday 4 June to Friday 7 June 2024. Nomination papers may be obtained from that place, during the times stated above.

3. The £500 candidate deposit can only be made by the deposit of legal tender, by means of a banker’s draft, or by means of Faster Payments / Same Day Bank Payment, at the place and during the time for delivery of nomination papers. No other method of making a deposit is available.

4. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.

5. Applications to be included in the register of electors must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024, if they are to be effective for the election. Applications may be made via the online registration service at: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or sent directly to the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA.

6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online at: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

7. All applications and notices in respect of postal voting, and those in respect of changes to (including cancellation of) existing proxy voting arrangements, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024, if they are to be effective for the election. Applications to vote by post can also be made online at: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

8. All new applications to vote by proxy (except those applied for on relevant emergency grounds) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024, if they are to be effective for the election. Some applications to vote by proxy can also be made online at: https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote

9. All applications to vote by proxy on relevant emergency grounds (disability occurring after 5:00 pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024; grounds relating to the applicant’s occupation, service or employment, where the applicant became aware of those grounds after 5:00 pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024; detention under civil powers as a mental health patient; or grounds relating to voter identification) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Electoral Services Unit, Town Hall Extension, Manchester, M60 2LA by 5:00 pm on Thursday 4 July 2024, if they are to be effective for the election.
