4 July UK Parliamentary General Election

A UK Parliamentary General Election has been scheduled for 4 July.

The deadline to register to vote or apply for a postal vote has now passed.

The final date to designate a proxy to vote in your place is 26 June 2024 at 5pm. Your proxy must vote at the polling station assigned to you.

The deadline to request a voter authority certificate is also 5pm on 26 June 2024.

All electors voting in person at a polling station must present an accepted form of photo ID.

If you are registered and eligible to vote on the 4 July, you can visit the Where Do I Vote website to find where your polling station is.

If you have registered for a postal vote

Your ballot papers should arrive between 21 and 24 June.

For overseas voters who register by 6 June, your ballot papers will be posted on 13 June.

If you are voting by proxy

If you’re unable to vote in person you can ask someone to vote on your behalf. This is called a proxy vote. You must apply for a proxy vote on gov.uk by 5pm on 26 June.

Your proxy should vote in person at your designated polling station. For example, if you appoint a proxy in Newcastle, the proxy should vote in person at your Manchester polling station.

If your proxy is unable to do that, they may apply for a postal proxy vote. But the deadline for both applications is earlier. To arrange that, you must:

Both your application for a proxy vote AND your proxy's request for a postal vote must be with us by 5pm on 19 June.
