Manchester currently has 38 Sure Start Centres across the city. They provide services to families with the aim of:
- improving the life chances and aspirations of children and their families
- improving parenting skills
- reducing inequalities in child development and school readiness.
The services provided from Sure Start Centres include:
- health services such as health visiting and midwifery
- parenting support
- speech and language support for under 5s
- childminder drop-ins
- stay and play sessions
- ready for school activities
- training and employment advice and support for parents.
These 38 centres work together in 14 local areas sharing leadership and management.
