Schools, education and childcare Apply for a year 7 secondary place for September 2025

Late applications

Submit your application on time. This is crucial. It will help you avoid disappointment with your school choices. A late applicant might not get an offer on offer day, 3 March 2025.

We will record your application as ‘late’ if we receive it after the closing date of 31 October 2024. We will review it after all on-time applications. This could mean that your application is unsuccessful for your preferred school.

If there’s a good reason for a late application, we may consider it on time. But, only if there is clear evidence for why it was late. Acceptable reasons may include severe medical issues. Or, moving to the area too late.

You must send your reasons when you apply. You must provide supporting documents to the local authority by the deadline of 5 January 2025.

If you have moved house, we will need to see evidence that your address has changed. This will include a letter from the solicitor with the completion date. Or, a signed rent agreement with the start date of the tenancy.  The rent agreement must show you live at the address on 5 January 2025. We may ask for more information to confirm your address. This can include a council tax bill or a recent utility bill.

If you apply after 6 January 2025, it will be a late application. This is true even if there is a good reason for applying late.

Late applications will be dealt with after 6 January 2024. We will deal with the on time applications first. This means that late applications received after this date may be put to one side. They will be processed with waiting list applicants.
