Parks, leisure and the arts Great Manchester Run

On Sunday 21 May 2023, we will be celebrating 20 years of the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run. The event is a celebration of everything that is great about Manchester and this year's landmark 20th anniversary event promises to be the most special yet.

25,000 runners will take part this year in either the Half Marathon or 10K event, starting from 8:30am.

Several roads within the city will be affected by the event, and road closures and traffic diversion plans will be in operation on the day. We’ll be installing warning notices before the event.

See which roads will be closed and at what times

If you park your car on or directly off any of the affected roads, you should find alternative parking if you will need to use your car on Sunday 21 May 2023.

Full traffic diversion signage will be in place across all areas affected by road closures.

Event stewards will assist traffic and residents wherever possible on the day of the race, allowing access to and from properties within the road closures, whenever it is safe to do so, up until 8:15am.

For safety reasons there can be no access onto the course after this time. We will try to open roads as soon as possible.

Parking suspensions will be in place in the city centre.
