The vision for the Northern Gateway is bold and ambitious. It involves regeneration of seven neighbourhoods, including Collyhurst. The regeneration plans will span a period of 15 to 20 years and will provide a range of affordable housing options including Council-owned homes and homes for private sale.
In addition to delivering high-quality and energy-efficient new housing, one of the aims of the scheme is to provide improved and sustainable transport links. These will connect existing communities with employment and leisure opportunities in the city centre and beyond. New facilities for retail, health, education and leisure will support growth in the community and add to the community spirit in these neighbourhoods.
Regeneration will also include improving green spaces to make them accessible and appealing to the whole community.
