The Council and democracy Building Stronger Communities Together strategy

The Building Stronger Communities Together strategy is a three-year program. It focuses on the people in our city and on how we can improve social cohesion. We are looking at the relationships between and within communities. Whilst also how they interact with public institutions.

This boils down to the impact that we all can have when living alongside our;

  • friends,
  • families,
  • neighbours
  • and colleagues.

In summer 2022, we asked residents for their thoughts and found three main goals:

  1. Relationships: Connecting people from different groups.
  2. Participation: Helping communities work together to improve their neighbourhoods.
  3. Belonging: Making everyone feel part of their local area and the city of Manchester.

We are starting a pilot program alongside this strategy. It will focus on the three priorities and run for the next 12 months.

Each part of Manchester is different, and we want this program to show that. We will consider the unique character of all 32 wards.
