Stakeholder engagement

Groundwork Greater Manchester led the stakeholder engagement, which included a review of previous consultation activities and a range of opportunities to identify challenges and opportunities facing the river valleys.

The engagement work included:

  • An online survey developed by The Environment Partnership (TEP) to establish how much people value and use the rivers, what they don't like and how they would like to use them.
  • A series of online workshops (delivered virtually by TEP and Mersey River’s Trust) with interested partners, organisations and individuals to capture thoughts about the challenges and opportunities facing each river valley. This included separate workshops for each river valley to focus more clearly and  understand the different cultures and experiences in each valley.
  • To make sure our reach went beyond people who have easy access to engagement channels, Groundwork had conversations with the wide range of people who live in the river valleys. Some of these engagement plans were affected by Covid-19 restrictions; some meaningful conversations did take place however there is further work to do in this area.
