The bus gate on Princess Street / Cross Street means that this section of the road is open only to buses, black cabs, trams, and pedal cycles. It's operational 24 hours a day.
By buses we mean 'motor vehicles built or adapted to carry a minimum of 9 passengers (not including the driver)'.
The bus gate runs eastbound only, between Cross Street and Clarence Street.
Penalty charge notices
If you enter a bus lane or use a bus gate, you may get a PCN of £60, which will reduce to £30 if you pay within 21 days.
