Equality objectives 2024–28

Setting equality objectives is an important way for us to show our commitment. They describe what we'll do to support Manchester to be a progressive and equitable city.

Manchester has a long and proud history of championing equality. We celebrate diversity and welcome people from across the world. This commitment to equity, inclusion and human rights is in our DNA. It’s the bedrock of our city and its values.

Manchester has made huge progress in recent years. We're a global player on the world stage. But too many of our city’s residents don't have a share in this success. Communities where there is discrimination and disadvantage often fare the worst. It's evident in many aspects of life (such as health and work).

What we'll do

We have three equality objectives for the next four years. Each details what we'll focus on to ensure we're making progress. They are to:

  • Promote inclusive employment and work
  • Promote community involvement and engagement
  • Deliver inclusive and accessible services
