  1. The promoters are Manchester City Council. These competitions/promotions are only open to children aged 4 to 16, excluding employees of the promoter, their families, or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion.  The competitions are free to enter. The BBC (Blue Peter) and the Reading Agency who are partners in Blue Peter Book Club Live are not in any way connected to the competition element to enter the prize draws to win a set of Blue Peter Book Club Books. 

  1. Promotion Period: Enter between 11am on Saturday 4 May to 11.59pm on Friday 10 May for the Book Hunt competition and 9am 20 May to – 11.59pm on 31 August 2024 for the city-wide Book Badge trail competition. 

  1. To Enter Book Hunt competition:  This is open to families who take part in the Book Hunts in 4 parks 4 to 6 May.  Families who comment on Read Manchester Facebook page about where they have found the Book Club Book will be entered into a prize draw to win a set of the 12 books on the Blue Peter Book Club list 2024. 

  1. To Enter city-wide Book Badge Trail competition:  This is open to children and their families who find the 13 letters on the over-sized Blue Peter badges that form part of the city-wide trail.  The 3 words need to be completed using the 13 letters from the trail on the Entry form which forms part of the trail booklet.  The entry form can be taken to any Manchester Library. 

  2. Only one entry per child is allowed throughout the promotion period. Only one prize can be won per household (across both promotions). 

  3. All entries must be received by the end of the promotion period to be valid and no liability is accepted for illegible, incomplete or late entries. 

  1. The Prizes for Book Hunt 4 to 6 May: 1 x set of the 12 Book Club books. 

  1. The Prizes for the Blue Peter Book Club Badge Trail: 8 x sets of the 12 Book Club books. 

  1. The prize is non-transferable, is not exchangeable and has no cash alternative in whole or in part. 

  1. In the event of unforeseen circumstances the promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal or greater value. 

  1. Winner Selection: At random. The winner of the Book Hunt competition will be picked at random from the comments that have been made on Read Manchester’s Facebook page by families finding a hidden book in one of the 4 parks. 

  1. Winner Selection: At random. The 8 winners of the Blue Peter Book Club Badge trail competition will be picked at random from the entries that have been received in Manchester Libraries.  Each library has a competition entry box where entries can be placed.  All details will be kept safe and secure and the box will be emptied on a regular basis. 

  1. Winner Notification Book Hunt 4 to 6 May: The winner will be contacted via Facebook initially and communication will continue either by telephone or email within 60 working days of the draw and will be required to respond to confirm eligibility plus acceptance of the prize within 7 days of initial contact. In the event a winner does not respond to communications within the 7 days of initial contact, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that winner and allocate that prize to an alternative winner selected in the same manner. 

  1. Winner Notification Blue Peter Book Club Badge trail: The winners will be contacted via the telephone number or email address provided upon entry within 60 working days of the draw and will be required to respond to confirm eligibility plus acceptance of the prize within 14 days of initial contact. In the event a winner does not respond to communications within the 14 days of initial contact, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that winner and allocate that prize to an alternative winner selected in the same manner. 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants. The Promoter may require such information as it considers reasonably necessary for this purpose and a prize may be withheld unless and until the Promoter is satisfied with the verification. 

  1. All entries must be made by the entrant themselves. Incomplete or illegible entries, and entries which do not satisfy the requirements of these terms and conditions in full will be disqualified and will not be counted, using identities other than their own or any other means in order to increase that entrant’s entries into the Promotion in a way that is not consistent with the spirit of the Promotion, that entrant’s entries will be disqualified and any prize awarded will be void. 

  1. No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed or as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.  

  1. The promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent.  Children’s names are required in order to enter them in the competition. This data will be used solely to administer the competition and all entries will be destroyed in October 2024, following the winners claiming their prizes. 

  2. Parents/guardians are required to provide their contact details in order to enter the competition, and we may need to pass your details to third parties in order to administer the competition, or arrange prizes, but in all cases your information will only be used for this purpose, and held only as long as is reasonable for the purposes of managing the competition. 

  3. Manchester City Council, may in their absolute discretion modify, amend, cancel or suspend these terms and conditions at any time if they deem necessary or if circumstances arise beyond their control. 

  4. The promoter accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered as a result of entering this competition or accepting the prize. Nothing shall exclude the liability of the promoter for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.  

  5. If for any reason the promotion is not capable of running as planned for reasons including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the promoter reserves the right (subject to any written directions given under applicable law) to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to terminate, modify or suspend the promotion. 

  1. If an act, omission, event, or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the promoter and which prevents the promoter from complying with these terms and conditions the promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations. 

  1. The winner(s) will be required to participate in any reasonable publicity arising from the Promotion.  These may include social media and blogs. 

  1. By entering this promotion, all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions. 

  1. The promoter’s decision is binding in all matters relating to this promotion, and no correspondence will be entered into. 

  1. The Terms and Conditions of this promotion shall be interpreted and applied on the basis of English Law and the Courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
