  2. Improvement details

    • Install an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing at the north end of Birch Street, near the junction with Belle Vue Street, and an additional 5m of double yellow lines on the south side of Birch Street to go from the new crossing to the junction with Belle Vue Street.
    • Add ‘SLOW’ marking and 20mph roundel on red road surfacing at either end of Birch Street, for traffic entering from Belle Vue Street and Hyde Road.
    • Refresh road markings throughout the extent of the scheme
    • Add hatched road markings to reduce the effective width around the bend north of the junction with Feltham Street / Great Jones Street.
    • Add 20mph repeater signs on Birch Street, and before the junction on side roads which join it
    • Add two single speed cushions on the bend north of the junction with Feltham Street / Great Jones Street, and two sets of three speed cushions on the straight section leading to Hyde Road.
    • Add speed hump warning signs on Birch Street and connecting through roads in advance of the speed humps.
    • Add ‘GIVE WAY’ sign and road marking at the junction with Hyde Road.
